The footprint of the Kennet Centre extension occupies the area of a former car park. It comprises of a seven-screen, 1,000 seat Vue cinema and foyer on the first floor, accessed by lift, stairs and escalators, from the ground floor cafes and restaurants.

The structural design comprises a steel frame with concrete slabs poured onto metal decking. There is lightweight roofing above the auditoriums, each with an interior acoustically isolated from the main structure of the building.

West Berkshire District Council sees the cinema development as central to their vision of renewal and regeneration of the Conservation Area of Newbury.
